Regions in Cape Town & the Western Cape

1. Cape Town

2. Cape Winelands
   

   The Cape Winelands region is home to a superb landscape of blue mountains, steepsided valleys and vineyards, dotted with whitewashed old Cape Dutch homesteads and the modern wineries producing the internationally recognised wines for which South Africa is famous for.

   
3. Cape West Coast
   

   The Cape West Coast is renowned for its charming white washed fishing villages, incredible seafood and its spectacular shows of spring wild flowers (July to October). More than 8 600 species of flowers occur of which 68 percent are found nowhere else in the world.

5. Cape Garden Route & Klein Karoo
   

   The Cape Garden Route is nestled between the mountains in the north and the Indian Ocean to the south. It is a place of spectacular scenic beauty with lush rich green forests on one side and semi arid plains on the other.

   
6. Cape Central Karoo
   

   The Central Karoo is one of the worlds most unique arid zones. In South Africa it stands alone, globally it is an envied rarity. The Karoo, the Hottentot word for dry thirst land, is considered a wonder of the scientific world.

   
7. Cross border - Tsitsikamma
   

   Tsitsikamma, which neighbours the Western Cape lies between the Tsitsikamma Mountains and the sea. Sometimes referred to as the ‘garden of the garden route’, Tsitsikamma is the San word for ‘place of abundant water’ and is home to a rich ancient forest which supports an incredibly varied ecosystem.

   
8. Cape Whale Coast
   

   June to November sees the yearly migration of the ocean’s gentle giants to the pristine stretch of coastline between the towns of Kleinmond, Hermanus, Stanford and Gansbaai; known as the Cape Whale Coast, where they gather to mate and calve in secure coves.

   
9. West Coast Peninsula
   

   The West Coast Peninsula, which runs through the towns of Hopefield, Jacob’s Bay, Langebaan, Saldanha, Paternoster, St Helena Bay & Vredenburg boasts an extraordinary coastline. It is a region of contrast and beauty, famous for its simple fishing villages, unpretentious people and huge diversity of birds and wildlflowers.

   
10. Hessequa
    

    Khoi Khoi for ‘people of the trees’, Hessequa is made up of the towns of Heidelberg, Slangrivier, Riversdal, Albertinia, Gouritz and Still Bay. Flanked by the lower Breede River to the west and the Gourits River to the east, it is an all encompassing region boasting vineyards, majestic mountains, rivers, sweeping sand dunes, pristine stretches of beach, indigenous fynbos, and game farms.
